We are currently facing a global pandemic, Covid 19.
With all the Control Movement Order Standard Operating Procedures(SOP) and new
norms (social distancing, hygiene, use of facemask), moving house should be
avoided. Unfortunately, some people do not have a choice in this matter. Here
are some tips on how to safely move house during Covid pandemic.
Hygiene - Use fresh/new
packaging supplies.
- It was common to make use of used boxes from grocery store to pack things. However, it is not recommended to use these boxes during pandemic period as its reported that the viruses could live on the surface of boxes for many hours
- You may also want to contact movers’ services to purchase new packing supplies or to get advice on best option to pack your belongings.
- If you have decided to pack your items on your own, make sure to label and arrange you belonging based on category and its need for easy relocation and unpacking task.
- The movers’ company are also offering packages that fit the new norms. Their staffs are trained to maintain proper hygiene, wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as facemask, apron and disposable gloves during packing and moving activities.
Limit contact and
crowd during the moving process

considering current situation, it will be best if you could choose a moving
method that minimise contact between you and other people. Maintaining social
distancing during your house moving activity is crucial
· You
may want to consider moving your family members, those at high risk, the kids
and elderly to the new place (if its ready) or arrange a temporary stay for
them nearby.
· Moving
on your own over a period of time might be a great alternative. You will be
able to transfer your things without much contact with others.

and extra facemask.
· Provide access to sink along with soap and paper towels for the movers to clean their hand before and after moving services.

exit through during moving in process.
Keep the space well
ventilated
· Open all available windows and doors to provide proper air
and fresh air ventilation.
Delay if unwell
· If you
or any of your family member is not well, it is best to delay your move until
you get proper check up from your healthcare provider. That would be the best
option to avoid unnecessary stress and its essential for the safety of everyone
involved.
Ask questions
· Before
hiring a moving service, you may want to get details on their moving services
and how is their protocol during this pandemic.
· You
may want to know the staff’s heath status, their monitoring system and
frequency. What kind of supplies, including face masks,
gloves, and hand sanitizers, will be provided during the process?
Be smart and safe when moving during Covid pandemic. Please
